Mappa Marches

So excited to announce that I will be co-curating a new Arts Council England (ACE) funded project in the Herefordshire area and that planning for this is underway. The idea for the project and impetus to apply for funding came from my friend Adrienne Craddock – who was incidentally my first ever tutor in printmaking…

Interview with fellow artist, Martin Truefitt-Baker

I had a lovely morning interviewing artist-printmaker Martin Truefitt-Baker in his studio in Llangattock (Llangatwg), opposite Crickhowell (Crucywel). Martin retired early from his job as an art teacher and is now a full-time artist, inspired by the stunning South Wales landscape and wildlife around him. I found out lots more about his process and how…

In the RCA open exhibition – YAY!

Socially distanced workshops

I really look forward to seeing you again – it’s been a long time and I find teaching really inspirational….

Etchings

A lot of my printwork is made from carving images into linoleum (known as relief or block printing) but recently I’ve really enjoyed 2 forms of etching: drypoint engraving (scratching into a perspex plate with a sharp tool) and saline solution etching (where a homemade acid solution etches into a metal plate with a design…

Richmond Park deer: “Rumination”

I have just completed this 7 stage reduction linocut. I spent around 3 weeks working on this. Inspired by a photo by Emma Hughes (@emma_hughes_hdp), though I have given it a whole new colour palette and altered the composition. The slideshow above shows the 7 stages and the gallery below shows various shots during the…
